short background
aemilia is a native of dalmasca. her parents left the golmore jungle to elope in rabanastre, where she was born. at the age of 12, as the rabanastre's defenses fell and the empire marched on the city, her parents fled occupation via ship to the city state of ala mhigo. her parents scraped out a living until it too fell to garlemald. they sent her off with a resistance member to smuggle her across the border into gridania. her bioparents were freed from a work camp during the events of stormblood and now reside in ala ghiri — they keep in touch although aren't particularly close.
orphaned, she was adopted by an elezen couple, a married pair of ishgardian merchants who were dissidents against thordan. they fled ishgard when they were given a warning from a sympathetic clergyman that a rival merchant was to accuse them of heresy. her and her adoptive parents resided in the north shroud til she was 30 — she's still very close with them.
she learned how to cook and fish from her adoptive mother, but she was hopeless with her adopted father's carpentry, so she took to helping run their store in fallgourd float. after the calamity, she started her nascent adventuring career and joined up with the lancers guild but got very quickly tired of the racism in the city, which was somehow worse than what she grew up with. she made her way to make a new life in limsa lominsa with her adoptive parents' blessing. she worked at fishers guild and the bismarck and did odd jobs until she meet hoary boulder and coultenet got her start with the scions' b-team.
after the crystal braves incident, she, riol, and coultenet fled to isghard. there, she met sidurgu orl and trained under him on the path of the dark knight. they spent their time during the events of heavensward righting the wrongs of temple knights and garlean incursions into coerthas.
she joined the ala mhigan resistance to help liberate her homeland after the events of baelsar's wall. while she threw herself into her new role as a freedom fighter, she met her future partner m'naago. distinguishing herself with the resistance, she joined a contingent of resistance veterans to help with werlyt and bozja's struggles with the empire.
post-bozja, she works as a freelance adventurer that seasonally splits her time between old sharlayan/tuliyollal and gyr abania.
